Why is it that when some people disagree with my beliefs as a Bible-believing follower of Jesus Christ — no matter how vulgar, vile or disrespectful they voice their dissension — they are exercising their “free speech” rights, but when I simply point out that marriage is between one man and one woman, I’m branded a hater?
For the record, although I disapprove from a moral and religious standpoint, I do not object to same-sex unions that afford the couple the same legal rights and privileges that married couples have. Just don’t call it marriage, because it is not.
Marriage, by definition, is” the state of being united to a person of the opposite sex as husband or wife in a consensual and contractual relationship recognized by law.” (Merriam-Webster.com)
How about this as an alternative (like their lifestyle):
GARRIAGE - the state of being united to a person of the same sex in a relationship like that of a traditional marriage.
This way, they can have everything they desire without taking away thousands of years of tradition and the basic foundation of every civilized society. According to The Declaration of Independence, we all have “certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.”
Let them pursue their rights without trampling on mine and the other 90+ percent of this nation!
